Olympus OLA2500™ laboratory automation solution is a high performance system designed for use within medium- to high-volume clinical labs and sample processing departments. It features advanced aliquotting, along with pre- and post-analytical sample processing capabilities. As a front-end sample processor, the system automatically decaps, aliquots and sorts tubes to any analyzer sample rack. This saves time and labor, and eliminates sample handling errors. The Olympus OLA2500 laboratory automation system also uses an on-board digital imaging system to check sample volume as well as identify tube size, cap type and color.
As a modular system, the Olympus OLA2500 laboratory automation system can be configured for expanded capability to keep pace with individual lab needs and growth. In a standard configuration, the system typically processes as many as 650 tubes per hour, making it ideal for peak workload periods in medium and high volume labs. The system handles a wide variety of tube sizes, along with screw caps, rubber stoppers and aluminum seals.
The system uses a Windows® 2000 operating system, Pentium® processor, graphic user interface and image recognition software. It also comes with a high-reliability touch screen and membrane switches for easy use.
The Pointe 180 is a small, semi-automated chemistry analyzer with six filters and a large test menu. It has an onboard incubator with 12 wells at 37° C, a temperature controlled cuvette well, and internal temperature control. The analyzer leads the user through test performance in a step-by-step manner. The new graphics software allows extended timed absorbance interval data and kinetic data plots to be printed.
The analyzer has 48 programmed and 21 open channels, and reads, calculates, and prints results in less than three seconds. The analyzer reads test tubes upon insertion—-no need to press a button. Optimized parameters for Pointe Scientific reagents are already entered – just select the test number. Open channels are available for programming other tests. The normal range for each test is automatically printed out, and results that are out of the normal range are flagged. Normal ranges can be edited to fit the area or population. Results generated by the Pointe 180 are comparable to results reported by hospital and reference labs.
The analyzer can use single point calibration by standard/factor, multi-point calibration with point to point curve fit, percent absorbance and rate by standard or factor. These calculation options allow the analyzer to perform endpoint, initial rate, kinetic rate and batch kinetic methodologies.

The Roche Hitachi 911 Chemistry Analyzer is a fully automated and computerized system, composed of two parts: the analytical and the control units. The analytical component of this Roche chemistry analyzer operates with the photometric measuring technology called the Ion-Selective Electrodes (ISE) system and a CPU. The control unit consist of a monitor (CRT), keyboard, and a printer. Other highlights of the Hitachi 911 include automatic calibration, quick delivery of STAT results and 24-hour use per day.
